"We do not have control over what happens to us in life, but we do have control over how we chose to respond"

Hello I'm Nikki, thank you for visiting my website and a very warm welcome.

If you've found your way here, you're probably carrying something thats been feeling heavy for a while.

Maybe you're stuck in painful relationship patterns, struggling with anxiety or low mood, or feeling like you've lost your sense of self somewhere along the way.

If you're tired of pretending everything's fine, when really you know something needs to change, you're not alone and I'm glad you've reached out.

You're welcome to look around, learn more about how I work and book a free 30 minute consultation if you'd like to chat.

Nicola Charrett, Counsellor & Psychotherapist in Chandlers Ford

I'm a qualified, experienced BACP registered humanistic Gestalt psychotherapist with over 16 years of supporting individuals and couples through life's emotional challenges.

I've worked in both the NHS and private practice, helping people navigate anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, trauma and low self esteem and confidence.

I bring a blend of professional insight, emotional attunement and genuine down to earth care to my work thats warm, supportive, and gently challenging.

I'll be right alongside you, helping you make sense of your experience, reflect on what is no longer working, and explore what could be different.

I also draw on my own lived experience, I know what its like to feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, and I also know and am passionate about how things can change with the right support.

Choosing the right counsellor

Choosing the right counsellor can feel overwhelming, so how do you choose the right one for you? There's no rulebook for finding the perfect fit, but one thing matters more than anything else: feeling safe and comfortable with the person you're talking to. That's what helps you open up and start exploring the things that feel hard to say out loud.

To help you decide if I'm the right counsellor for you, I offer a free 30 minute consultation online, over the telephone, or in person at my practice in Chandlers Ford. This is not a counselling session, but a chance for us to meet, chat and see how it feels working with me.

You're welcome to ask me any questions, talk about what's bringing you to therapy, or simply get a sense of whether this feels like the right step. If you're feeling nervous or unsure, I hope you'll find the space reassuring, supportive and free from pressure.

From there we can take it at your pace, with warmth, care and no judgement.

Who I work with

I work with couples and individuals who are navigating all kinds of emotional challenges, from relationship struggles to inner overwhelm.

You might be:

  1. Caught in recurring conflict or disconnection with your partner.
  2. Dealing with betrayal, emotional shutdown or broken trust.
  3. Struggling with feelings of anxiety, low mood or feelings of worthlessness.
  4. Burnt out or stressed from work, life pressures and trying to hold it all together.
  5. Feeling invisible, unheard, "too much" in your relationships.
  6. Stuck in patterns that feel familiar but painful, and unsure how to break them.
  7. Ready to understand yourself more deeply and create lasting change.

Whether you're at breaking point or quietly unravelling under the surface, therapy can help. Together we'll move from confusion to clarity and from survival mode into something steadier and more grounded.

How I work

My approach to therapy is integrative and relational which means I don't believe in one size fits all. Instead I tailor our work together to meet your specific needs, challenges and goals. Whether we're exploring deep emotional patterns, navigating a crisis, or working on practical tools for every day life, I'll meet you where you are and support you at your own pace.

I believe that change is possible, not by ignoring pain or sweeping it under the carpet, but by understanding it. When we make space for our emotions rather than pushing them away we begin to heal.

Clients often tell me that therapy with me feels real, warm, grounded, and gently challenging. I offer emotional insight, practical support and a safe place where you can find clarity, and start shifting the patterns that keep you stuck.

This work is not about being perfect, its about becoming more aware, more compassionate towards yourself, and more intentional in how you live and relate to others.

Couples Counselling

Even the strongest relationships can face conflict, miscommunication, or emotional distance, and when things start to unravel, it can leave both partners feeling hurt, confused and stuck.

Sometimes its external events like betrayal, affairs or unacceptable behaviours that cause a rupture. Other times, it's a slow erosion, unmet needs, stress, or simply growing apart.

Whatever the cause, its not unusual to need help getting back on track and couples counselling offers a calm, non judgemental space to explore what is really going on beneath the arguments, the silence, or the resentment.

Whether you're navigating emotional disconnection, parenting stress, intimacy issues, or ongoing patterns that feel hard to shift, therapy can help you find your way back to understanding.

I work with both of you equally, holding space for each of you to be heard. My role is to stay unbiased, support effective and compassionate communication and help you explore your relationship with honesty and curiosity, not blame.

Professional standards and Qualifications

As a registered and experienced therapist, I'm committed to providing a safe, ethical, and high quality service. I stay up to with current regulations and best practice guidelines, and I regularly undertake professional training and clinical supervision to ensure my work remains grounded, reflective and effective.

Continued learning is a vital part of how I support my clients, from exploring the latest insights in trauma, relationships, and mental health, to deepening my skills in evidence-based approaches.
